You will find the State Age events listing and qualifying times. Remember please, no longer are you able to convert times. You also are unable to use short course times for long course meets. If you also consider that you are unable to use times older than 12 months, it adds up that you can only use times from December 17 2009 onwards for State times.
That being said, as State starts on December 17, we only have a few months to get some good training and racing done.
- 19 Sept - Bayside meet - MSAC - online entries. Enter everything. Race as hard as you can. We need to get used to doing multiple events in a day WELL.
- 27 Sept to 2 Oct - Thredbo camp - get info and payment back to me now. Hard work plus fun.
- 16 to 17 Oct - State Open Water Championships - Hazelwood Pondage. A great chance to get to know Open Water swimming. Enter the 5k. Or 10k if you dare.
- 23 to 24 Oct - Kyabram meet in Echuca - get in touch with Andrew Happy Hammond for more info. This will be our club country trip for the year. We want swimmers to race their OFF events. That means butterflyers doing breaststroke. A fun meet. Email your entries to your coach.
- 20 Nov - Geelong Open - Kardinia Pool - its an outside pool and a good meet. A good opportunity to get outside our comfort zone (MSAC). Perhaps get some much needed vitamin D. Race main events plus a couple of ones you like.
- 27 to 28 Nov and 4 to 5 Dec - December Competition - MSAC - last chance for state Qual times. Will be last chance to race prior to state. If you have all of your times, race your main events. Try to stick to 1 or 2 swims/session. No more. You should be swimming fast here.
- 17 to 22 Dec - State Age - 6 days of fun filled hard racing and chance to show how good we really are. There will be a big emphasis on getting good results in relays and qualifying them for Age Nationals.
From January 1 onwards, there may be some divided focus within the training program. There will be people preparing for National Open/Age meets in April. There will be people chasing qualifying times for Nationals. There will also be those focused on school swim meets. Those with a focus on school meets will have a majority sprint focus across all strokes. All that being said, this will be the racing schedule.
- 14 to 16 Jan - State Open - MSAC - Will be likely using this for Open swimmers and Age swimmers chasing times. Also looking at using for relay QTs for Nationals.
- Your school meets. Really use these meets to swim fast. You may not be able to use the times but you will know what you are capable of.
- 11 to 13 Feb - NSW State Open - SOPAC - I will be taking a group of swimmers up there. Anyone interested let me know. QTs are tough and on the NSW Swimming website.
- 19 to 20 Feb - Australian Open Water Champs - Sydney International Rowing Centre - only for those qualified. 5km and 10km.
- 20 Feb - All Junior heats - MSAC - all swimmers aged 14/under should enter this sprint meet to practise for school meets and hopefully progress to the finals weekend.
- 13 March - District Swim Champs - MSAC - just another days racing...
- 19 to 20 and 26 to 27 March - will let you know which meets to enter this weekend. These meets will be used as really hard racing weekends. Enter lots of events. Race hard and race tired. Training will not be easy in this time either. Aimed primarily at national swimmers. Good for anyone though.
- 1 to 8 April - Australian Open Champs - SOPAC - For those that qualify.
- 18 to 23 April - Australian Age Champs - Adelaide - For those that qualify.
