State Age Teams in Canberra Selection

Swimming Victoria Selection Criteria
2010 Australian State Team Age SC Championships
Saturday 18 September – Monday 20 September 2010
Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra
A team of up to 40 athletes will be selected into the Victorian State Team for this event comprising of up to 10 males in each of the two age groups (14/15yrs & 16/17yrs) and 10 females in each of the two age groups (13/14yrs & 15/16yrs).
CRITERIA: Selection is based on performance at the 2010 Victorian Age Short Course Championships. Athletes will be ranked and selected according to the 2010 SAL Point Score in each of the events listed below:
 The highest ranked (available) finisher out of the 100 & 200 backstroke in each of the combined age groups will be selected.
 Highest ranked (available) finisher out of the 100 & 200 breaststroke in each of the combined age groups will be selected.
 Highest ranked (available) finisher out of the 100 & 200 butterfly in each of the combined age groups will be selected.
 The 2 highest ranked (available) finishers in the 100 freestyle in each of the combined age groups will be selected.
 The 2 highest ranked (available) finishers in the 200 freestyle in each of the combined age groups will be selected.
 The highest ranked (available) finisher out of the 200 & 400 individual medleys in each of the combined age groups will be selected.
 The highest ranked (available) first place getter in the 400 freestyle in each of the combined age groups will be selected.
 Once the above criteria has been applied, the remaining four athletes will be selected at the discretion of the SV selection panel based on the needs of the team.
An athlete can gain selection in only one of the above categories. In the situation where an athlete could gain selection in more than one category, then the selectors may choose the category for that athlete and then apply the criteria for the next available highest ranked athlete in the category in which they would double up.
ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible for selection an athlete must:
1. Be a registered member of Swimming Victoria
2. Compete at the 2010 Victorian Age Short Course Championships
3. Completed and returned a signed event availability form
4. Be an Australian Citizen who is eligible to represent VIC at this event
5. Aged between 13yrs and 16yrs (female) and 14yrs and 17yrs (male) as at 18th September 2010
6. Payment of $100 athlete contribution to Swimming Victoria by the Friday 10th September 2010
7. Athletes representing Victoria or Australia at time of selection may still be considered for selection
