State LC - Dec '10

Morning Everyone,

I thought I would write and let you know how we are travelling towards LC State this year.

Entries
Must be done online. They are open now for those organised enough to get them in. If you go a faster time for an event you have already entered, the fastest toime will be the one counted. This is the link to the online entries https://www.clubsonline.com.au/swimregform/index.cfm?fuseaction=display_meet_summary&MeetID=9081&OrgID=2090 you will need your login details for this. If you do not have the login, please call Swim Vic on 96865222. The online entries will be due to Swim Vic by the last day of Decembers (Dec 5) so get them in.

Relays
Are selected by the coaches. They are also entered by the coaches. When doing online entries, do not worry about relays. They are being done. Additionally, the club picks up the bill for relays. Relay only swimmers will however, have to purchase a swimmers pass. I think it is around $15-$20. The basis around relays is that the team that we consider to be the fastest will be the one selected.
If you think you need a faster time to get into a relay, I will take timetrials at Waves on Thursday mornings in the last 15 mins. Please let me know if you intend to take up the offer and no, I will not let you know the time that will need to get you into the team.

After State Dinner
Will be on the last night. It is EXPECTED that all swimmers and at least 1 parent will be there. The social committee are doing a lot of work to get this night going and it will be a very positive night for all the state qualifiers.

Uniform
Is red. Everyone will wear red. Parents, please wear red. It will have an enormously positive effect if we can all get out there in the 'sea of red.' If you want official Bayside gear, please see Michelle Balleggi who can get it sorted if we have anything left in stock. RED! If you need caps, we have plenty. No old caps either please. Just the new ones. Importantly, this is Melbourne. It does get cold from time to time. A warm up is called that so that you can get warm and stay that way til you race. If you are cold, you will not race to your potential. STAY WARM. Wear hoodies, deck coats, uggies etc. Equally, if it is a hot day, leave that gear in the car. It will eventually cool down. If you get a medal, we will be wearing red Bayside t-shirts and hoodies on the dias.

Finals
Are awesome. They are also a bit sad when no-one is there to support you. I would love to see swimmers and families not involved in the finals come out to support those that are. ESPECIALLY the relays.

Diet
Is all important. Start practicing your race diet now. I know it can be tiresome always eating the same thing for 6 stright days but it will do you well. And if you sneak some lollies or icecream or hot chips or something similar, know that I too will know...

That is all for now. I am sure there will be more emails.

Gus
