Relays and other State Info

More info for State Champs

Relays
Please find attached the file with the relay teams for Bayside at State Age Champs this December.
To work out who was in each team, I looked at PBs from the last year, splits from the first 50 or 100 of longer races and time trial times from Waves on Thursday mornings. It is an honor to represent your club in relays and I have gone to great lengths in my selections to make sure this is as accurate as possible. I have also had feedback from our other coaches and, in a few cases, made educated decisions as to who would be best in each team.
This year marks a change from previous years in Victoria where qualifying times are now required for each team. In the past this was not the case and most clubs could enter as many relays as they wished. To work out QTs, I added PBs together and took away 2 seconds. It is a fairly standard was to get times for relays. This takes into account flying changeovers. After I did this, I then looked to see which teams had in fact qualified. We now have 21 teams entered.
It is likely that at least one of the teams will be forced to make a change of some sort (injury, sickness, forgot it was on, etc). Please be aware that any changes will be made by the coaches for the good of the club.
Lastly, all relays are now on at night. There are no heats in the morning, just heats at night in a timed final format. We have relays every night. Likely to be a relatively late night for those swimmers.

WEAR RED
This is a message for everyone. Please wear your red at all times at the meet. As I said to couple of people out there, I want people from other clubs to be sick and tired of seeing red Bayside t-shirts everywhere.

Support
Is all important to swimmers. Nothing feels better when you are on pool deck than looking up and seeing a hoard of people ready to scream for you. All the support we can get there will be appreciated. Seating is shown on the next attachment. Lets take over the whole area. Everyone (swimmers, grandparents (wearing red), uncles, aunties etc) will be sitting in this area.

Get togethers
As was the case at short course State, we got together before the meet more on that soon.

Relay training session
There will be a specific session on soon and I am just looking for a venue. I will let you know as soon as I do.

Timekeepers
Will be required throughout the meet. We are a big club with excess of 60 swimmers competing. We will likely have a lane to fill each day. Please look out for a roster from the club for where and when we will need help. Michelle Balleggi is also organising red t-shirts for all those timekeeping.

The last night
The social committee has organised the Xmas party for the last night to make it a double celebration. I am hoping that as many people as possible can come to the finals on the last night and then move on to the party. We are sure to have some great results to celebrate and a weeks break to look forward to.

Thanks for all of that. If there are any queries, please ask me.

Gus
